Know your stuff.
Know your CV backwards.
Have examples to hand.
Own your stuff. Be proud of what you know.
Not everyone has your unique personality or experiences. Quite simply. Your ‘stuff’, let’s call it subject matter, doesn’t have to be rocket science, but it does have to be something you care passionately about. If you speak with confidence on your subject, you will come across as confident.
Use the following tips to feel instantly credible:
TIP 1: Know the top 3 juicy things about your subject – need help ? Google it
TIP 2: Know some stats about it – need help ? Google it
TIP 3: What’s the latest trend in the subject/industry – need help ? Google it
TIP 4: Have a current example of how it is working in industry – make it interesting – you want to be seen as being ahead of the trend – need help ? Google it
TIP 5: Have an example of how you have been successful at it.
TOP TIP: It often helps, rightly or wrongly, to be seen as ‘presentable’ (smartly dressed and NO I am not talking hard core suits, just something simple and well put together). Just shows you care and you pay attention to detail.
Et voila! You immediately come across as someone who knows their ‘stuff’ and professionally credible ! Remember you are unique and awesome ! Xx
