How to deal with the guilt as a working SuperMum

I was working late again last night in the lounge. I had my laptop on and was fully immersed in a really exciting project I am involved in. My youngest came up to me and said: “Not again Mummy, you’re always on the laptop!”  V frustrating to hear, because I could see a child asking to spend time with her mummy and I, as an adult was visibly in business-mode. [Children have this innate superpower at being able to tell you precisely when you are getting out of sync, so you can address the balance.] So, I put down the laptop and gave her my attention.

This juggling act is hard. There is no denying that. There are days when you are an awesome business chica and days you are nailing it as Mum of the Year. But rarely at the same time. AND THAT’S OKAY.

Where possible I try to keep my work to during their school hours. So, it doesn’t interfere with my time with them after school, but life isn’t always that neat. AND THAT’S OKAY. I am living a dynamic life, and the mini-humans are on this journey with me. I want my dynamism to be a role model for my children and in return I listen to them when they tell me do a balance check.

Top tip for today is:  Carry on. Listen to their superpower radar. What you are doing does not need to be perfect. Aim for JUST GOOD ENOUGH [See the Aristo-Chic podcast on this for more].

You’ve got this. Go give your mini-humans a hug and recharge. Xx
