One of the great things about being a consultant, changing your assignments and working environment every 12-18 months is it gives you the chance to refresh and remind yourself of your professional value.
A really good way to do this is to Draw a mind-map.
- Pop your name in the centre of a blank piece of paper
- Start drawing little branches and at the end of the branches, write words that you associate with your job.
- Write down all the things you do, your skillset, and how you add value.
- Include your moments of brilliance
- Do this in an artistically elegant chaotic scrawl (full disclosure, I am NOT arty, so my mind maps are a fabulous mental organic download)
[TOP TIP: Re-read this before an interview to give yourself a confidence boost.]
Et voila, you are left with a work of art and a one-page visual reminder of your professional brilliance. Xx
