I was listening to this awesome Mum on Instagram (@bigtimeadulting) the other day. She was likening being a mother to being a president of a country. On a daily basis, you issue a state of the nation address advising what the plan is, who will be doing what etc (get dressed, brush teeth). There is often dissent to manage from your citizens (the mini-humans), and occasionally the only way to lobby to get them to do what you want is to provide them with a stimulus package (sugary snack). This made me laugh so much. How accurate is this ? !! She has many more insightful observations – check her out @bigtimeadulting.
It got me to thinking about how we manage our working mum lives like a CEO of a business. And as a new CEO you are often measured on your first 100 days in office – in this scenario, your first 100 days as a new mum. What does that look like for you?
CEO: First 100 days:
- Build your 100-day plan
- Review the job requirement
- Create a timeline
- Set measurable goals
- Day 0-30 Learning Goals
- Day 30-60 Contribution Goals
- Day 60-100 Growth Goals
- Know your starting point
- Be clear on your 100 day vision
- Understand the environment
- Engage your stakeholders
- Create Impact
Day 100 – reset vision for next 12 months
Now start by treating yourself to a stimulus package. You’ve got this. Xx
