Amongst the best motivational advice I have ever heard, was from the comedian Sarah Millican. In the middle of one of her shows she was recounting a story of what to do in a bad situation when you need hope, she said (and I paraphrase slightly, sorry Sarah),
“You want to see the light at the end of the tunnel …??? Then stomp down there and turn the f**ker on yourself.”
Just awesome. A way to live my life. Are there times when you think that the first answer you get doesn’t feel right ? Take a moment and reflect, if you didn’t get that job, it could be the Universe telling you that this was NOT the right place for you to flourish – so think of it as protection rather than rejection. But if you have any niggling doubts, no matter the situation, then go back and fight for the answer you want. I’ve done this with school places before. If you’re not getting the logistics flexibility at work you need for you and your children, then revisit the situation, look at it from another angle.
This, interestingly, is also one of the things they teach children in private schools, DO NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER. I say this from experience, both my children and myself have been through both the private and state school system in the UK. [A hugely interesting topic in itself and one for the Just Good Enough podcast at some point.)
What is there in your life that you are currently accepting as the first and final answer ? Take a rational view, ask yourself, is this something where I can change/influence the outcome? If you can, then do it. You’ve got this. Be un-fudging stoppable today ! Xx
