My working mum life hack is prepping dinner the night before so I’m just reheating it when it is crazy hour…. and packing lunchboxes the night before too. We also signed up to one of those meal delivery services which took a mental load off too. Initially we thought it would be expensive, but we ended up wasting less food and had fewer last minute trips to the grocery story.

My life hack is to play the ‘Fair Play’ card game with my husband. It gamifies the way you assign household chores (and also makes you realise where assumptions have been made). Based on a book of the same name.

I’ve found that making friends with the school entrance person is hugely helpful when I am having to do a swift drop off then run to a meeting. Make best friends with ALL the school admin staff. I often have ‘mum’ hiccoughs and will forget a lunch or a games kit and the staff are always accommodating because I have made the time to get to know them.

I am a big fan of afterschool clubs for both the children to let off some steam and also to allow me to get to the school gate without stress running from the office.

I have learnt not to sweat the small stuff. Nothing is ever perfect and I think things turn out for the better if they are a little messy aroud the edges.

When I am working from home and they have just got back from school, if have an online meeting, I will ask the children to use their Ipads for an hour. I emphasise to them that my preference is for an educational game, but reality is not often this.
