Returning to Work

Research with working mums by Aristo-Chic Working SuperMums [2023]:

88% of new mothers want to return to work 1 year after giving birth.

Of that 88% only 40% actually do return to the workplace.

Of that 40%, overwhelmingly 65% leave due to cost of child care, and mental health issues (cited stress of having to juggle work hours and child care).

Imposter Syndrome

Research with working mums by Aristo-Chic Working SuperMums [2023]:

79% agreed they were tired of hearing the term ‘imposter syndrome‘ feeling the term was overused.

82% felt more empowered and likely to be more vocal in meetings

94% attributed workplace confidence to being a mother, having to manage challenging situations and make firm decisions daily.

Impact of Working Mums

Research by Washington Post [2022]:

Daughters who grew up with a working mother tend to have higher salaries in their own jobs and obtain higher-level, higher-responsibility positions;

33% of them hold managerial or supervisory jobs, compared to 25% of daughters whose mums didn’t work outside the home.
